The IU Fission Track Lab
Please contact Andrea if you are interested in collaborations (alsg <at>iu.edu).
- The IU fission track lab includes an AutoScan system set up for the external detector method
- The lab routinely processes and analyzes samples for AFT analyses
- The lab will be working on developing ZFT analysis capabilities during the 2023-2024 academic year
Please contact Andrea if you are interested in collaborations (alsg <at>iu.edu).
Lab Status Updates
10/2022: Postdoc Olivia Thurston has produced the first AFT data in the IU Fission Track Lab! Her new data will help us understand the thermal evolution of cratonic basins in the US Midcontinent.
06/2022: Andrea and Olivia are calibrating zetas. Keep an eye out for the first fission track data in the coming months!
04/2022: The AutoScan system has arrived at IU!
06/2021: The FT system is currently being built by the folks at AutoScan - at IU we are setting up our fission track space and processing new samples for analysis upon arrival of the system!
05/2021: the IU FT lab has set up a picking scope fully equipped to prepare samples for (U-Th)/He analysis (and analysis at partner labs). Multi-dating is our favorite!
